Mahindra Australia celebrates its fifth anniversary
February 25, 2010: Mahindra Australia, the Australian branch of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., recently celebrated its fifth anniversary.
“My congratulations to Mahindra Australia on reaching the five year milestone. Since its introduction in the Australian market in 2005, the Mahindra tractor has acquired a reputation for its high performance and reliability. Last month, we enhanced our existing line of compact and utility model tractors in the 20-85 HP category with the introduction of the 60 CAB series which offer supreme comfort, ease of operation and all round visibility to the operator,” said Mr. Anjanikumar Choudhari, President, Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.
“Our foundation, our people, our business partners and of course our customers have all been the key to our success in Australia which has always been a strategic market for Mahindra. Since its launch in 2005, Mahindra Australia has gone from strength to strength, steadily expanding its facilities to meet growing demand and to include a larger facility for spare parts and training purposes,” said Mr. Pravin Shah, Executive Vice President, International Operations, Automotive and Farm Equipment Sectors, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.
In early 2005, Mahindra Australia commenced it operations by establishing a plant at Acacia Ridge, in Brisbane’s south. This industrial unit had a capacity to assemble 400 tractors per year. By mid 2008, in response to rising demand for its tractors, Mahindra shifted its assembly and customer support centre to a larger facility which now has an annual capacity to assemble in excess of 600 tractors. With a 2300 square-metres warehouse and an ample open yard space, the new premises also provide a larger spare parts and training facility.
In Australia, Mahindra offers a complete line of 2WD and 4WD compact and utility model tractors in the 20-85 HP category, each one a serious workhorse equipped with standard features that most other companies would have built as extras. Their rugged cast-iron chassis make them a lot heavier than most other tractors of similar size and horsepower. The axles and 3-point hitches are bigger, thicker, and more solid: this provides greater stability and control in handling the most difficult tasks. Even fenders and other sheet metal components are reinforced and use a thicker gauge of metal for greater strength and durability. Mahindra also offers its UTEs (Pick-Ups) in the Australian Market.
About Mahindra Australia Mahindra’s story in Australia has been a tale of continuous evolution and growth. Mahindra Australia started with relatively small operations and has since evolved into one of the best in its segment. The credit for this success goes of course to the company’s quality products. However, more importantly, it’s due to the efforts of our outstanding family of employees and dealer staff who have helped the company to effectively position the Mahindra brand across the Australian heartland. With the recent launch of our completely new cab and compact series tractors, and with a treasure chest full of plans lined up, the future looks even more promising. Since launch, the company has committed itself to following Mahindra’s global culture of sharing knowledge and imparting quality training across all its dealerships. The latter are then fully qualified and armed with the resources to cater to the needs of the customer both before and after purchase. In the last couple of years, Mahindra has indeed grown some serious Australian roots. Mahindra connects with Australian farmers and land-owners who have an emotional bond with their land. They are not simply cutting a field or tilling some soil; they are tending, grooming and nurturing a section of the earth. They are passionate about their land and proud of their relationship with the soil. Mahindra tractors have attained success in Australia helping people to reinforce that relationship.
